Rotary Club of Dhaka Luminous held its 194th General Meeting on 12th February 2023 at Hotel Bengal Canary Part at Gulshan-1, Dhaka. Meeting was held during 7.30 PM to 8.30 PM. Rtn. Mohammad Abdullah, the club president conducted the meeting. He welcomed all the members and guest present at the meeting.
Meeting started with recitation from Holy Quran by Rtn. Kazi Sarwar Sweet. President Elect Rtn. Mohammad Monjurul Karim recited the rotary invocation. Thereafter, President informed the members about communication received from Rotary International, Rotary District, other rotary clubs and Rotarians. President also greeted members and their spouses for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.
During the meeting President has expressed his concern on low presence of members in the general meetings. He also emphasized on regular participation of past presidents of the club. He requested PP Rtn. Mushfiqur Rahman to take initiative to discuss with Past Presidents of the club and increase their participation. It is also decided that members will be communicated to increase their participation.
On request of the Club President, CP Rtn. Kazi Saiful Hoque PHF B MD has shared update on prospective merger with RC of Dhaka Phoenix. Chartered President informed the members present that RCD Phoenix has morally agreed to merged with RCD Luminous however formalities need to be performed in Board meeting & AGM. This process will commence soon.
On to the next topic of the meeting project updates were shared by club President. President has informed the members that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is going to be signed on 14th February 2023 between RCD Luminous and Prime Bank Eye Hospital in relation to cataract surgeries and eye camps to be provided to underprivileged people. In this regard a MoU has been prepared which has been shared with the members for their review and comment.
President of the club then informed the club members that Blanket distribution project has been completed. Furthermore, contribution for sleeping kit distribution has been finalized and cheque will be handed off soon. Members also discussed about educational sponsoring project which was than decided to discussed in later general meeting and board meeting.
In the last agenda of the meeting, Club President has requested all the members to deposit the outstanding membership subscriptions to facilitate the club functionalities and service projects.
During the meeting refreshment were serviced. Meeting was adjourned after sharing club statistics and secretarial announcement for 195th General Meeting which will be held on 26th February 2023 at Hotel Bengal Canary Part at Gulshan-1, Dhaka. Meeting was held during 7.00 PM to 8.00 PM.
