Gopalpur Bazar is one of the marketplace in Alfadanga, Faridpur. Hundreds of people come to this marketplace for their buying daily necessaries, selling produced harvest or trading goods. Despite being a crowded place there is no facility for fresh drinking water for the merchants and customers of this market. Therefore they face difficulties and needs to bring filtered water from long distance. This is the common scenario of many local markets.
Rotary Community Corps (RCC) of Alfadanga, Faridpur has identified the need for facility of fresh drinking water in this market and two other markets at Kuchiagram bot-tola and Dignogor. RCC Alfadanga has requested Rotary Club of Dhaka Luminous to distribute and install tube well for providing access of pure drinking water to the merchants and customers of these markets.
Rotary Club of Dhaka Luminous believe everyone should have easy access to fresh and pure drinking water. That is why RCD Luminous undertook “Project Spring” in 2020 which aims to enable access for everyone to pure drinking water.
Upon receiving request from its RCC, Luminous have distributed and installed three Tube Wells in Gopalpur Bazar, Kuchiagram bot-tola Baza rand Dignogor Bazar of Alfadanga, Faridpur to facilitate availability of pure drinking water. The project was implemented on 05th May 2023 in partnership with Rotary Community Corps (RCC) of Alfadanga, Faridpur and Daily Dhaka Times. During project inauguration ceremony, Club President Rtn. M Abdullah, Charter President Rtn. Kazi Saiful Hoque MD, PP Abdur Rahim PHF, PP Hadi Al Mizan PHF, PP Mushfiqur Rahman PHF were present along with several local social and political leaders, journalist and implementation partners.
Since start of the project, RCD Luminous has distributed and installed more than 10 tube wells in various locations and intents to continue the project in future.
